In preparation for an increased fleet of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and to ensure a proper experience for existing Audi hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) customers, these guidelines establish the minimum facility standards for electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE). By meeting these standards, dealers should be able to properly sell and service Audi electric vehicles.

EVSE Minimum Standards
E-tron Readiness requires the following equipment be located in:
1 Service Workshop: minimum of 2 Mobile Chargers (charging cord).
– PHEV and BEV (required)
2 Vehicle Delivery Area: Wall-mounted Charging Cabinet
– PHEV (required)
– BEV (optional)
3 Showroom: Demonstration Unit
– PHEV and BEV (required)
4 Customer Parking: Dual-head Charging Pedestal
– PHEV (required)
– BEV (optional)

Hybrid and PHEV (A3Sportback) Minimum Standards
Level 2 (AC) Charging
Level 2 charging is an AC charge at 208/240V or 220 amps. Audi strongly recommends using a 2” diameter conduit at each charging capsule location.
Mobile Charger (Required)
Provide at least two (2) Level 2 charging outlets in the Service Workshop. While only two designated stalls are required, Audi recommends providing a 208/240V outlet at every other bay in the workshop to allow for service flexibility.

Wall-Mounted Charging Cabinet (Required)
Provide a wall-mounted charger at the delivery area — either in the Vehicle Delivery room or in the Service Drive (in the case of no Vehicle Delivery room).

Pedestal Charger (Required)
Provide a pedestal charger positioned near the building in the customer parking area. The pedestal should be placed on the sidewalk or grass between two parking spaces, or between two demo spaces. Each pedestal is designed to serve two vehicles.
Audi recommends running additional 2” conduit to support one to two future pedestals. These lines can be capped.

BEV Minimum Standards
DC Fast Charging
Future BEVs will require DC fast chargine capabilities. Each DC charging capsule will require a 2” diameter conduit with an additional 3/4” conduit for data. AC (PHEV) and DC charging cannot be combined within a single 2” conduit. The conduit needed to support Level 2 (AC ) charging
and the conduits to support DC fast charging should be installed in parallel.
Workshop Equipment
If using below-ground lifts, at least one lift must have unobstructed clearance between superstructure posts of at least 67”.
